Why the market moves — before the sonar shows where

The sonar is technical: zones, Σ strength, breakout chance. This tab explains the rest —in plain language, live. The barometer below interprets current quotes of the six script markets (BTC, ETH, gold, silver, oil, S&P 500) on its own, the driver cards say what actually moves them, and raw feeds live in a collapsible section for the curious.

01 · Barometer — what's happening now, in plain words

Six markets, six sentences

Quotes are fetched live and the interpretation is written by fixed, transparent rules — not opinion, not a forecast. The colour says how much is going on; the sentence — what it usually means.

Bitcoin

CALM

77,389 · 24h: +0.27% · 7d: -0.59%

Bitcoin is up (+0.3% in 24h), the day runs against the week — the market is hesitating. At higher speeds, ETF flows and the Fed's tone tend to matter most.

Ethereum

CALM

2,396 · 24h: -0.78% · 7d: -1.9%

Ethereum is down (-0.8% in 24h), the week pulls the same way — the move has backing. ETH usually moves with BTC, only harder — glance at the ETH/BTC pair.

Gold

HOT

4,420 · 24h: +1.66% · 7d: -3.87%

Gold is up (+1.7% in 24h), the day runs against the week — the market is hesitating. Gold trades on real rates and the dollar — big moves rarely come from nowhere.

Silver

MOVING

65.67 · 24h: +1.63% · 7d: -3.41%

Silver is up (+1.6% in 24h), the day runs against the week — the market is hesitating. Silver is gold on steroids: the same triggers, a larger amplitude.

Brent Oil

MOVING

95.48 · 24h: +0.88% · 7d: +8.7%

Brent Oil is up (+0.9% in 24h), the week pulls the same way — the move has backing. Oil answers to OPEC+ and inventories — Wednesday data can flip the day.

S&P 500

MOVING

7,668 · 24h: +0.48% · 7d: -0.1%

S&P 500 is up (+0.5% in 24h), the week lacks clear direction. The index breathes with Fed rates and mega-cap earnings.

02 · Fear & Greed

An emotion thermometer — five markets

Computed with a transparent formula from price alone: 24-hour and 7-day momentum plus the position within the last 30 sessions' range. 0 is extreme fear, 100 — extreme greed. Extreme readings have historically marked exhaustion zones more often than invitations to chase.

03 · What actually moves each market

Six markets, three drivers each — no noise

There are hundreds of headlines a day; factors that actually set these markets — a handful. If you're just starting out: read these cards once and the barometer above and the calendar below stop being noise.

Bitcoin

BTCUSD
  • Supply cycle (halving)every ~4 years new-BTC issuance halves — the historical axis of this market's cycles.
  • Spot-ETF flowsfund inflows and outflows are today's main barometer of institutional demand.
  • Dollar liquidity & the FedBTC responds to the cost of money: easing helps, tightening weighs.

Watch: FOMC & CPI in the calendar below · weekly ETF flows · BTC dominance (rotation into alts)

Ethereum

ETHUSD
  • Network activity & feespart of fees is burned (EIP-1559) — high activity means deflationary pressure on supply.
  • Stakinglocked ETH limits free float; changes in staking yields shift incentives.
  • ETFs & regulationregulators' decisions around ETH have defined the recent big moves.

Watch: network fees & L2 activity · regulatory decision calendar · ETH/BTC (relative strength)

Gold

XAUUSD
  • Real interest ratesthe strongest inverse relationship: falling real yields fuel gold.
  • The dollar (DXY)gold is priced in USD — a weaker dollar usually supports the price.
  • Central-bank buyingthe structural demand of recent years, largely insensitive to the current price.

Watch: CPI & Fed decisions · 10Y (TIPS) yields · geopolitics

Silver

XAGUSD
  • Dual naturehalf precious, half industrial (solar, electronics) — it reacts to the Fed and to the business cycle.
  • Beta to goldusually follows gold, with a larger amplitude both ways.
  • Gold/Silver ratioextreme readings point to relative mispricing of one side of the pair.

Watch: everything gold watches + manufacturing PMIs and solar demand

Brent Oil

UKOIL
  • OPEC+supply decisions (cuts or increases) are the single strongest price factor.
  • Inventories & demandweekly US inventories (Wednesdays) and the health of China's economy.
  • Geopoliticstensions in producing regions and shipping routes add a risk premium.

Watch: OPEC+ meetings · Wednesday EIA inventories · China PMIs

S&P 500

US500
  • Corporate earningsearnings season — especially the largest companies with the biggest index weight.
  • The Fed's rate pathvaluations discount the cost of money; CPI/PCE and labour data steer expectations.
  • Liquidity & sentimentfund positioning can amplify moves in both directions.

04 · Before you click anything

Three rules that protect beginners

RULE 1

The minute after a release is the market's most expensive minute

spreads and slippage spike — this is where beginners give back the most. Watching costs nothing.

RULE 2

The reaction at a zone says more than the print itself

a defence or a break of a sonar zone after the data shows who really took control.

RULE 3

The calendar is also for not trading

knowing CPI is out in an hour is information: the market is guessing now — you do not have to.

05 · For the curious

Raw macro calendar and headlines — expand when you want the source data

High-importance events calendar

Only high-importance releases from the largest economies — the moments when sonar zones get tested hardest. The cheat sheet below explains the acronyms.

Cheat sheet: what these acronyms mean

Rate decision (Fed / ECB)the central bank sets the price of money. Higher rates usually weigh on stocks and crypto and strengthen the dollar.

CPI — inflationhow fast prices are rising. A print above forecast = the market expects a tougher central bank.

NFP — US labour markethow many jobs were added in a month. The fastest barometer of US economic strength.

GDPthe growth rate of the whole economy — a quarterly health check.

PMIa survey of company managers: above 50 the economy is accelerating, below — braking.

Forecast vs actualthe market does not react to the number itself but to the DIFFERENCE versus expectations. Surprise = movement.

06 · How to combine fundamentals with the sonar

The barometer and the calendar tell you when volatility appears, the drivers — why, and the dashboard and screener show where the zones are on which that volatility tends to stall or accelerate. You can audit our readouts in thejournal — hits and misses, no cherry-picking.
